One-Line Bio

A company CEO who believes in the power of technology convergence as a key driver of innovation. In my spare time I am a technology nut.

Biography

The Antipodean Podcast was conceived to deliver to the rest of the world stories and developments on science, technology, biotech, medical science, environmental issues and innovations in general that occur in the southern hemisphere - the Antipodes.

Australia has a proud history of strong contributions globally in all these areas but we tend to often be forgotten and rarely reported in the global media. Antipodean Podcast aims to bring these stories to the world each week.

As we say '... news from the rest of the world for the rest of the world..'

About me the Podcaster:

Originally trained as a biochemist, I have over 20 of years experience working in, and managing R&D in both the private and government sectors.

I have worked in the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical sectors on projects including with applied animal breeding technologies, vaccine development, diagnostics and have broad experience with the commercialisation of many technology areas and biotechnology applications.

In addition to my business interests, I have previously held Adjunct, Conjoint and Visiting Fellow academic appointments at several Australian Universities at the Associate Professorial level. I serve on a number of committees and advisory boards associated with technology commercialisation and innovation.

I have special interests around the role that industry clusters play in economic development, the promotion and expansion of biobusiness opportunities in regional areas of Australia and the development of innovative solutions to enhancing commercialisation of emerging technologies from both public sector institutions and the private sector. I continue to contribute to the tertiary sector through guest lectures, seminars and workshops on a wide variety of topics. In my day job I run a technology commercialization hub in Sydney.
